Stronger Staffrooms - Welcome to Your New Classroom

Welcome to Stronger Staffrooms - A Core Curriculum for Teachers - an online platform aimed to give teachers & SNAs the tools and support they need to build stronger, healthy versions of themselves. To allow you to show up for your kids in the classroom, but also for yourself outside of the classroom.

Stronger Staffrooms - A New Beginning

If I had a penny for every time I heard ‘Ah teachers have it easy’ or ‘Sure that’s not a real job’. Well let me tell you, it most definitely is. And certainly not an easy one at that.

Teaching is extremely demanding, both physically and mentally. You have to put out so much energy to help and educate your kids, which often results in little energy for yourself when you do have free-time (which you will have little of, especially if you are a parent yourself!).

Teaching is so important, and is helping to shape future generations. As well as SNAs ensuring all our kids are looked after, and get the additional care they deserve.

Here at Stronger Staffrooms, we want to help teachers and SNAs become stronger, healthier, more educated versions of themselves - so they can create an internal environment similar to the way they would want their classroom to look and feel - organised, looked after, and safe.

Teachers face many struggles, but here are some of the common things we regularly see in teachers which we believe a structured exercise programme and group community support may help with:

  • Chronic stress

  • Limited energy after school, from giving so much in school

  • Unhealthy eating habits

  • Lack of time dedicated to exercise, and resistance training in particular

  • Fatigue

  • Prolonged sitting/standing in the one position which may lead to the development of pain/injuries (increased global strength & conditioning will be key to help this!)

Invest in your future, while educating theirs.

There are so many benefits to be got from regular exercise, and resistance training in particular - which this will be centred around.

Some of the benefits of resistance training include, but are not limited to:

1. Increases Muscle Strength and Mass

  • Builds stronger muscles and improves endurance.

  • Helps maintain lean muscle mass, especially as you age (reduces sarcopenia).

  • Aids in overall better body composition or a more ‘toned’ appearance.

2. Improves Metabolism and Aids Fat Loss

  • Muscle burns more calories at rest than fat.

  • Increases resting metabolic rate, which helps with long-term weight management.

3. Enhances Bone Density

  • Reduces risk of osteoporosis and bone fractures.

  • Weight-bearing exercises stimulate bone growth.

4. Supports Joint Health and Injury Prevention

  • Strengthens muscles around joints, improving stability and control.

  • Can reduce pain and symptoms in conditions like arthritis or back pain.

5. Improves Functional Fitness

  • Makes everyday tasks (lifting, carrying, climbing stairs) easier.

  • Increases balance, coordination, and mobility.

6. Boosts Mental Health

  • Reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression.

  • Increases self-esteem and confidence.

  • Releases endorphins, improving mood and reducing stress.

7. Enhances Insulin Sensitivity and Glucose Control

  • Helps regulate blood sugar levels.

  • Can lower the risk or help manage type 2 diabetes.

8. Promotes Better Posture and Core Strength

  • Strengthens core muscles, reducing strain on the spine.

  • Leads to better posture and reduced risk of back pain.

9. Improves Heart Health

  • Lowers blood pressure and improves cholesterol levels.

  • Reduces risk of cardiovascular diseases when combined with aerobic activity.

10. Supports Healthy Aging

  • Preserves independence in older adults.

  • Reduces fall risk through improved balance and strength.

Well anyway, I could talk forever about the positives regular exercise and resistance training can bring to your life, but I’ll leave it there for now.

I’m so excited for the journey that is to come with Stronger Staffrooms, and I’m delighted for you to join me along the way.
